Widgets show the state of your Proxmox VE clusters where you already look: on the Home Screen and Lock Screen of iPhone and iPad, on the Mac desktop and in Notification Center, and on the Android home screen. They are read-only and show what Aprox last saw. Tapping a widget opens Aprox. Widgets are free.

Where to find it

  • iPhone and iPad: the widget gallery › Aprox › Cluster Status.
  • Mac: the widget gallery (Edit Widgets) › Aprox › Cluster Status.
  • Android: the launcher's widget picker › Aprox.

Widgets cover Proxmox VE clusters only. There is no widget for a Proxmox Backup Server.

The Cluster Status widget (iPhone, iPad and Mac)

Cluster Status shows "Nodes and running guests on a Proxmox VE cluster." Each widget shows one cluster, which you choose.

Medium iPhone, iPad, Mac Cluster name, health badge and "x/y running", plus CPU and memory for up to 3 nodes, or "offline" for a node that is down
Large iPhone, iPad, Mac Everything in Medium, plus up to 7 guests with name and VMID (running guests first), and "+N more" when there are more

  1. Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
  2. Tap Edit › Add Widget.
  3. Search for or scroll to Aprox and tap it.
  4. Swipe to the size you want: small, medium or large.
  5. Tap Add Widget, then Done.

Add the widget to the Lock Screen

  1. Touch and hold the Lock Screen and tap Customize › Lock Screen.
  2. Tap the widget area (below the time) or the line above the time for the inline widget.
  3. Choose Aprox, then the circular, rectangular or inline Cluster Status widget.
  4. Tap Done.

Add the widget on the Mac

  1. Click the date and time in the menu bar to open Notification Center, or right-click the desktop.
  2. Choose Edit Widgets.
  3. Search for Aprox, choose small, medium or large, and drag Cluster Status to where you want it.

Choose the cluster

If you have more than one Proxmox VE server, choose which one the widget shows:

  1. Touch and hold the widget (Mac: right-click it).
  2. Choose Edit Widget.
  3. Tap Cluster and pick the cluster. The hint reads "Choose which Proxmox VE cluster this widget shows."

Until you choose one, the widget shows the first cluster Aprox knows. You can add several widgets, each showing a different cluster.

How fresh the data is

  • The widget shows what Aprox last saw. Aprox updates it while it runs, and whenever a node or guest changes state.
  • If Aprox has not updated it for 30 minutes, the widget adds "as of <time>", so you never mistake old data for current data.
  • Before Aprox has connected to any Proxmox VE server on this device, the widget shows Open Aprox — "Connect to a Proxmox VE server to see it here."

Tip

If a widget shows "as of …", open Aprox once. The widget updates as soon as Aprox has fresh data.

The Android widget

The Android widget shows "Nodes and guests across your clusters, as of the last time Aprox ran." It covers all your clusters in one widget.

What it shows

  • The title Aprox, plus Attention when anything is wrong.
  • A totals line "x/y nodes · x/y guests" (nodes online, guests running).
  • Up to 4 cluster lines, each with its nodes online and running guests, and "and N more" when you have more clusters.
  • A warning line when needed, such as "1 offline · 2 failed · 1 storage full" (offline nodes, failed tasks, full storages).

Add the widget on Android

  1. Touch and hold an empty area of the home screen.
  2. Tap Widgets.
  3. Find Aprox and drag the widget to the home screen.
  4. Optional: touch and hold the widget and drag its handles to resize it. The default size is 4×2.

Tapping the widget opens Aprox. Before you have connected a cluster, it reads "Open Aprox to connect a cluster."

Limits of the Android widget

  • It always shows all clusters; you cannot pick one.
  • It shows no timestamp.
  • It is updated only while Aprox is running. Open Aprox to bring it up to date.
